Electrical Conductivity Of Liquids

-The phenomenon of flow of current through liquids is known electrolysis.

-The phenomenon of flow of electrons through solids is known as conduction.

-The phenomenon of flow of electrons through gases is known as discharge.

-Pure water does not allow the current to pass through most of the liquids which conduct electricity are solutions of acids, bases and salts.

-The liquids which allow the current to pass through them are called electrolytes.

-The container in which electrolysis takes place is known as voltmeter.

-The chemical decomposition of an electrolyte when electricity is passed through it is known as electrolysis.

-The mass of the ions deposited is directly proportional to strength of the current and time of flow.

-The electrolysis is used in electroplating, electrotyping and metallurgy.

-Electric current flows in metals by movements of electrons.

-Electric current flows in metal solution by movement of ions.

-Electroplating is used in ornamentation and decoration.

-Good Conductors -The substances which allow the electricity to pass through them are called good conductors.Examples -Silver,Copper,Iron etc.

-Poor Conductors-The substances which does not allow the electricity to pass through them are called poor conductors.Examples- Rubber,Wood,Plastic etc.

-Electrodes-The plates in the liquids whose ends are connected to positive and negative terminals of the battery.

-Electroplating-The process of coating of one metal with another material is called electroplating.

-The flow of electrons is called electric current or the flow of charge through the conductor per unit time is called electric current.

-The instrument which is used to check the flow of current is called tester.

-The method of purification of metals by using electricity is called electro-refining.

-The process of coating of iron and steel sheets with a layer of zinc is called galvanisation.

-Air is insulator.

-LED means Light Emitting Diode

-LED light sources consume less electricity
