Jnanpith Awards Facts : List of awardees
 *Jnanpith Award is
being presented by the Bhartiya Jnanpith, a trust founded by Sahu Jain family,
who are the publishers of the newspaper The Times Of India.
* Along with Sahitya Academy Fellowship,it is one of the two
most  prestigious literary honours  in the country.
*The award was instituted in 1961.
* The name of the award has been taken from Sanskrita word,
Jnana means knowledge and pitha means seat. The award carries a cheque for Rs
11 lakh, a citation plaque and a bronze replica of Goddess Saraswathi.
