Tapti River
1-The River Tapi or Tapti flows in central India from east to west, between the Godavari and Narmada rivers.
2- The river flows through Surat and is crossed by the Magdalla ONGC Bridge.
3-The river is reportedly named after the goddess Tapti, the daughter of the Sun god.
4-The Tapi River basin lies in the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
5- The source of the river is Multai (Also known as Multapi) near Betul.
6- The length of the river is 724 km.
7-Tapati, Tapti, Tapee, Taapi are the other names used for the Tapi river in India.
8- Some says that Surya created the Tapi river in order to save himself from his own intense heat.
9-The river finds mention in the great Indian epic Mahabharata, according to which Tapti had married Sanvaran, a legendary hero of the moon dynasty.
10- Tapti and Sanvaran also had the son called Kuru. It was on his name only the Kuru dynasty started.
11- Tapi is considered as the Goddess among the Hindus and is worshiped among them.
