Census of India 2011-Some Important Information

 

1-India’s population has increased by more than 181 million during the decade 2001-2011.

2-The population of India is at 1210.2 million according to 2011 census. It is almost equal to the combined population of some countries like U.S.A., Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, and Japan put together which is 1214.3 million.

3-Thane is the most populated district of India with a population of 1.1 Crore.

4-In West Bengal, North Twenty Fourth Pargana is the second most populous district of India with a population of 1.08 Crore.

5-Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh is the lowest populated district of India with a population of 7948.

6-Anjaw which is in Arunachal Pradesh is the second lowest populated district of India

7-Meghalaya state has registered the highest decadal growth rate during 2001-11 as per the Census 2011.

8-Highest decadal growth rate with 111% growth rate was registered in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh.

9- Lowest decadal growth rate with-58.39% Growth rate was registered in Longleng district in Nagaland.

10-According to the Census of India 2011, the total number of children in the age-group 0-6 is 158.8 million compared with (-5 million since 2001)

11-As per Census 2011, India’s Sex ratio is 940.

12- As per 2001 population, the sex ratio was 933.

13-As per Census 2011, India’s literacy rates stands at 74.04 % for age 7 and above.

14-Population density of India stands at 382 as per the provisional data from Census 2011. It is 17.5% more than 325 in Census 2001

15-NCT of Delhi has highest density in India with 11297 followed by Chandigarh having a population density of 9252.
